The higher education and scientific research system in the Syrian Arab Republic is under the direct supervision of Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research andHigher Education Council. Officially accredited educational institutions are divided into public universities, private universities, e-learning and virtual education institutions, in addition to higher institutes that grant bachelor's and postgraduate degrees in accordance with the laws and academic regulations issued by the state.
Its first nucleus was established in 1903, and it is the largest and oldest university in Syria. It comprises multiple faculties and institutes covering medical, engineering, humanities, social, and economic disciplines, and includes teaching hospitals and specialized research centers.

Homs University official website 🌐Established by government decree in 2002 as the first public educational institution to adopt the e-learning and virtual education model in the region, it offers accredited programs in information technology, management, law, and teacher education.
