Times Higher Education also announced new updates to the way ranking results are displayed, aimed at providing a higher level of accuracy and transparency. Among the most notable updates:
- Increasing the number of ranking bands from 10 to 18 bands.
- The last band reaching 2001+ instead of the broad bands used previously.
These changes aim to enable universities to make more accurate comparisons with peer institutions and to provide detailed information that helps decision-makers, researchers, and students better understand university performance.
Times Higher Education explained that participation in the ranking is open to all universities, but final inclusion is subject to a set of basic conditions, most notably:
- Conducting research activity across a variety of disciplines.
The organization noted that the data universities submit to participate in the 2027 World University Rankings will also be used to prepare a number of other rankings, including:
- Academic subject rankings (Subject Rankings).
- Interdisciplinary Science Rankings.
- The various regional rankings.
It also announced the launch of two new regional rankings covering Central Asia and Eurasia and Southeast Asia, alongside the continued publication of rankings for universities in the Arab world, Asia, and Latin America.
